Following a meticulously planned rollout strategy honed across 14 other urban centers, Waymo is initially extending invitations for public ridership on a phased basis. The service debuts with a fleet comprising "dozens" of its advanced Ojai minivan robotaxis, designed to navigate a key segment of Las Vegas. However, industry observers suggest that reaching these maximum deployment figures within the stipulated timeframe is improbable. Waymo’s current global fleet, distributed across more than a dozen cities, exceeds 4,000 robotaxis. Similarly, Tesla’s Cybercab chief engineer, Eric Early, indicated to state regulators in August that the company would be "extremely happy and satisfied if we could get ourselves up to 2,500, maybe a bit higher than that in the next year." Even if these companies fall short of their maximum permits, the influx of thousands of robotaxis could lead to significant market saturation in Las Vegas, transforming the urban mobility landscape.
