Hustler Words – Waymo announced on Tuesday its expansion into Denver and Seattle, deploying both its Jaguar I-Pace SUVs and Zeekr-made vans. Initially, these vehicles will operate with human drivers, paving the way for autonomous testing and eventual robotaxi services. Waymo aims to launch robotaxi operations in Denver next year and in the Seattle metro area as soon as regulatory approvals are granted. This strategic move allows Waymo to rigorously test its autonomous driving technology in diverse and challenging weather conditions, including snow, wind, and rain – conditions less prevalent in its existing operational areas like Phoenix.
The addition of Denver and Seattle significantly expands Waymo’s U.S. footprint. The company recently reported a commercial fleet exceeding 2,000 robotaxis nationwide, with a substantial presence in cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Austin, and Atlanta. Further expansion plans include commercial robotaxi launches in Dallas, Miami, and Washington, D.C., next year, along with ongoing testing in New York City. Beyond these core operational areas, Waymo has also conducted test drives in cities such as Philadelphia, with similar plans for Las Vegas, San Diego, Houston, Orlando, and San Antonio. This proactive approach demonstrates Waymo’s commitment to nationwide autonomous vehicle deployment.
