Hustler Words – Spotify, the dominant force in music streaming, is empowering its Premium subscribers in the United States with an unprecedented level of control over their personalized audio experience. The platform has commenced the rollout of "Taste Profile," an innovative feature designed to grant users direct insight into, and influence over, the artificial intelligence that curates their listening suggestions.
This groundbreaking tool, now accessible to U.S. Premium users, allows individuals to visualize how Spotify’s sophisticated AI interprets their musical and audio preferences. More significantly, it enables them to actively modify these interpretations using intuitive natural language commands, facilitating either subtle refinements or broad adjustments to their recommended content.

The "Taste Profile" system, powered by Spotify’s proprietary AI, was initially revealed by co-CEO Gustav Söderström at the SXSW conference in Austin earlier this year. Following an initial beta phase exclusively available to listeners in New Zealand, the feature is now making its debut in Spotify’s largest and most lucrative market, where it will undergo extensive evaluation among users aged 18 and above.

Essentially, this new functionality hands the reins of Spotify’s recommendation engine directly to the listener. This engine is the very core of how the streaming service identifies and proposes new music and podcasts, influencing everything from the highly popular Discover Weekly playlists and "Made for You" sections to the much-anticipated annual Spotify Wrapped summary.
While Spotify’s algorithmic prowess in understanding user habits has long been considered a cornerstone of its immense success, the static nature of these recommendations has often struggled to keep pace with evolving user tastes. Listeners frequently encounter suggestions that are too similar to their existing library, hindering their desire to explore new genres or artists.
With the introduction of "Taste Profile," users can now directly intervene. They can request greater diversity in their recommendations, specify more or less of a particular genre, artist, or even a general "vibe." This also provides a solution for common frustrations, such as preventing frequently played background noise (like sleep sounds) or a teenager’s car music from skewing a parent’s main recommendations.
Prior to this, Spotify offered limited options for refining one’s taste profile, primarily allowing the exclusion of specific tracks or playlists. A more recent, highly requested addition was a toggle switch to prevent children’s music from influencing parental recommendations. "Taste Profile" represents a significant leap forward in user agency.
To engage with this feature on the mobile application, users simply tap their profile picture, navigate down, and select "Taste Profile." Here, they can review Spotify’s current understanding of their preferences across music, podcasts, and audiobooks. Under the "Tell us more" section, users can input their desired adjustments, sending a message to the AI. Within a few hours, the changes will begin to reflect on their app’s Home Page, presenting a refreshed array of suggestions.
Spotify highlights the utility of this feature for various scenarios: exploring uncharted genres or historical musical eras, fine-tuning the energy level of suggested tracks, or precisely shaping podcast and audiobook recommendations. The feature remains in its beta phase, and the company has not yet provided a timeline for its broader public release.
