Hustler Words – Emergent, a startup founded by twin brothers Mukund and Madhav Jha, has secured $23 million in Series A funding led by Lightspeed Venture Partners. This investment, along with previous funding, brings Emergent’s total capital raised to $30 million. The round also saw participation from Y Combinator, Together (the Founders of Freshworks’ Together Fund), and prominent angel investors including former a16z GP Balaji Srinivasan, Google’s Jeff Dean, and a Mistral founding team member. This significant influx of capital will fuel Emergent’s mission to empower non-technical users to create their own mobile applications using simple prompts.
The platform differentiates itself from competitors by providing comprehensive support throughout the entire app development lifecycle. Emergent handles API management and deployment, shielding users from the complexities of coding. Furthermore, the platform incorporates AI agents to identify and rectify errors, ensuring a smoother user experience. Mukund Jha, formerly CTO at Google-backed Dunzo, explained that the inspiration stemmed from observing the potential of AI-powered coding and the growing demand for accessible app development tools. He and his brother, Madhav, leveraged their extensive programming backgrounds to build a platform designed for the next generation of app creators.
A demonstration of the platform revealed a surprisingly efficient workflow. Building a pet vaccination tracker, a relatively complex task, took less than 30 minutes. The AI agent intelligently guided the process, prompting for relevant details and automatically adding features like a dashboard and streamlined data entry. This contrasts sharply with other "vibe coding" platforms that often struggle with even basic prompts. Emergent’s impressive user base, boasting over 1 million users who have collectively created 1.5 million apps since launch, underscores the platform’s appeal.

While Emergent currently utilizes Expo for mobile app deployment, plans are underway to launch its own native mobile app builder. A universal API key simplifies integration with various services, eliminating the need for multiple account creations.
