AI Startup Suffers Blow: Co-Founder Jumps to Meta

Hustler Words – Thinking Machines Lab, the ambitious AI venture spearheaded by ex-OpenAI CTO Mira Murati, has experienced a significant setback with the departure of co-founder Andrew Tulloch, who is now joining Meta.

According to a report in The Wall Street Journal, Tulloch informed Thinking Machines Lab staff of his decision on Friday. A company representative verified the news, stating that Tulloch "has decided to pursue a different path for personal reasons."

This move follows earlier reports from the WSJ that Mark Zuckerberg aggressively courted Thinking Machines Lab, even proposing an acquisition. When that fell through, Zuckerberg allegedly attempted to recruit Tulloch directly with a compensation package potentially reaching $1.5 billion over six years. Meta representatives previously dismissed the reported offer as "inaccurate and ridiculous."

Tulloch’s career includes prior experience at both OpenAI and Facebook’s AI Research Group, making him a valuable addition to Meta’s growing AI team. This acquisition underscores the intense competition for top AI talent within the industry.
