He revealed that a critical realization struck them approximately a year ago: "If our employees were utilizing various AI tools, even with personal licenses, there was a significant risk of inadvertently training these models on our proprietary company data," Davie explained. He added, "This posed a genuine threat of inadvertently benefiting our competitors."

Davie expressed frustration over the need to ration access, stating, "We disliked having to arbitrate which team members merited AI access." He further elaborated on the operational impact: "Compounding the issue, our staff frequently reported biased or completely incorrect outputs, which regrettably sometimes found their way into crucial presentations."
Faced with these pervasive shortcomings, Davie issued a direct challenge to his Chief Technology Officer: engineer a superior alternative.
The outcome of this directive was CollectivIQ. This newly formed spinout developed a sophisticated platform capable of simultaneously querying multiple leading large language models, encompassing offerings from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and xAI. The software meticulously analyzes the responses, identifying both convergent and divergent data points, to construct a consolidated answer. This fusion process is engineered to yield a level of accuracy surpassing that achievable by any single LLM operating in isolation.

Recognizing that a significant portion of Buyers Edge Platform’s clientele grappled with similar uncertainties and reluctance regarding AI adoption, the company made the strategic decision to make CollectivIQ publicly available.
The CollectivIQ platform leverages enterprise APIs from various AI models. Its business model is designed for flexibility: CollectivIQ covers the underlying token costs, while customers are billed based on their actual usage. Davie anticipates this approach will differentiate the company within the highly competitive enterprise AI sector. He commented, "My aspiration is for this to offer a refreshing alternative for businesses, assuring them they won’t be bound by rigid commitments. They will simply compensate for the tangible value derived from the service."
Initially, CollectivIQ has been entirely self-funded by Davie, who informed Hustler Words of his intention to pursue external investment later this year. For Davie, the experience marks an exhilarating return to the startup world, nearly three decades after establishing his primary enterprise. He remarked on the nostalgic yet invigorating process: "It truly evokes the early days, embarking on this journey anew, embracing a scrappy approach, and delving deep into the intricacies of LLMs, post-training, and numerous other domains I wasn’t formally educated in." He concluded, "It’s both enjoyable and stimulating. I collaborate directly with the software developers on product creation – a hands-on method that was instrumental in building my main company, and it remains incredibly rewarding."
