AI Agent Lands $5.6M to Conquer Browser Tedium

Hustler Words – Composite, a startup aiming to streamline professional workflows across any browser, has secured $5.6 million in seed funding led by Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross’s NFDG. This investment underscores the growing interest in AI-powered agents designed to boost productivity by automating repetitive tasks.

Founded this year by Yang Fan Yun, an ex-Uber product manager, and Charlie Deane, Composite addresses the pervasive issue of time-consuming browser-based tasks that hinder professionals across various roles. Yun observed firsthand how marketing, sales, recruitment, and security engineering teams were bogged down by tedious online work. "I felt that this stops them from putting their education and skill to full use, and I wanted to automate this work easily for them," Yun explained in an interview with hustlerwords.com.

Unlike AI browsers such as Perplexity’s Comet or Opera’s Neon, which are confined to a single browser environment, Composite offers a cross-browser solution. Its Mac-based tool allows users to issue commands across different web applications, automating tasks like managing Jira backlogs, drafting personalized emails, or compiling reports from multiple sources.

Composite’s agents operate within the user’s existing browser sessions, eliminating the need for complex connectors. The tool leverages existing logins to seamlessly interact with various websites. The company is also developing enhanced features to proactively suggest tasks based on user behavior and schedule recurring automations.

The funding round included participation from Menlo Ventures and Anthropic’s Anthology Fund, signaling strong investor confidence in Composite’s vision. Matt Kraning, a partner at Menlo Ventures, praised the tool’s intuitive design and suitability for professional use cases. "Composite handles different modalities and sites very well, and it is designed with professional use cases in mind," Kraning told hustlerwords.com. "The tool is well-suited for people who might have to go through a lot of tasks in a day across a range of functions."

While the AI agent landscape is becoming increasingly crowded, with companies like OpenAI and Notion exploring similar solutions, Composite differentiates itself by focusing on professional workflows and cross-browser compatibility. The company’s ability to empower users to automate tedious tasks without requiring technical expertise positions it for success in the evolving world of AI-driven productivity tools.
