Hustler Words – Meta’s newest artificial intelligence application, Muse, is rapidly emerging as a potential powerhouse, with early mobile adoption metrics significantly outpacing those of OpenAI’s ChatGPT during its initial launch phase. Fresh data from market intelligence firm Apptopia indicates that Muse has achieved a higher volume of downloads and a greater number of daily active users (DAUs) within its first twelve days on the market compared to ChatGPT’s performance in its inaugural period. These initial comparisons primarily focus on the U.S. and Canadian markets.
The direct comparison between these two AI titans has historically been challenging due to their distinct launch strategies. ChatGPT initially rolled out globally but exclusively on iOS. In contrast, Muse launched across both Apple’s App Store and Google Play, albeit with a geographical restriction to the U.S. and Canada. To establish a more equitable "apples-to-apples" analysis, Apptopia meticulously focused its comparison on iOS data for the U.S. and Canada during each app’s first 12 days post-launch. Within this specific subset, Muse recorded an impressive 1.8 million downloads, surpassing ChatGPT’s 1.3 million.

Beyond these normalized figures, Muse’s overall global install base reached 2.8 million within its first twelve days. The app’s momentum shows no signs of slowing, having ascended from its initial position as the No. 2 overall app on the U.S. App Store immediately after launch to claim the top spot, as reported by outlets like Business Insider. This surge positioned Muse above ChatGPT in the rankings.

Further underscoring its rapid ascent, Apptopia’s data reveals Muse’s U.S. daily active users are substantially higher than ChatGPT’s at a comparable point in its lifecycle. When examining U.S. mobile app DAUs, Muse registered 642,000 daily users, a significant lead over ChatGPT’s 231,000 at the time. Even when the comparison is narrowed exclusively to iOS, Muse maintained its dominance with 359,000 daily active users, still comfortably exceeding ChatGPT’s early iOS figures.
It’s important to note that Apptopia’s figures are third-party estimates, not direct internal data from Meta. However, even as ballpark figures, they strongly suggest Muse’s potential to become Meta’s next flagship application. Meta has a well-documented history of leveraging its vast digital ecosystem for cross-promotion, a strategy perfectly exemplified by the explosive growth of Instagram Threads, which now boasts over 500 million users thanks to deep integrations within Instagram and Facebook. Muse is poised to benefit from a similar strategic push, given its compatibility and potential integration with Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. While Apptopia cannot directly observe Meta’s promotional efforts, their data indicates a strong user overlap: over 95% of Muse users are also Facebook users, and 63% are Instagram users, hinting at the effectiveness of Meta’s internal marketing channels.
Meta has yet to release official public figures regarding Muse’s early adoption, despite requests for comment. The tech giant’s silence only adds to the intrigue surrounding the burgeoning success of its latest AI venture.
