Hustler Words – A pioneering platform poised to redefine how architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) firms identify and secure lucrative contracts has successfully closed a $3.5 million seed funding round. Cascade, the innovative startup at the forefront of this transformation, garnered significant investment from prominent venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz Speedrun, Ada Ventures, and Snowball VC, underscoring strong market confidence in its disruptive potential within the burgeoning construction technology sector.
Slated for a 2025 launch, Cascade’s inception stems directly from the firsthand observations of its co-founders, Hannia Zia and Joana Ferreira, regarding the persistent difficulties construction businesses face in predictably acquiring new work. Ferreira, whose family boasts deep ties to the industry—her mother in construction materials sales and her uncle in high-end property development—shared with Hustler Words that despite their exceptional craftsmanship, many professionals lacked the advanced tools necessary to expand their project portfolios. Similarly, Zia recounted her father’s struggles to launch a construction venture in Pakistan, ultimately attributing its failure to an inability to consistently secure sufficient project volume for sustainable operation.
Zia vividly characterizes the conventional method of project acquisition as an arduous "treasure hunt." Firms are often compelled to navigate a complex web of individual online portals maintained by various U.S. states, cities, districts, counties, and federal agencies. This fragmented approach means that a highly specialized firm, perhaps one excelling in suspension bridge construction, must painstakingly sift through countless disparate platforms to unearth relevant opportunities.

Cascade directly addresses this widespread inefficiency by offering a sophisticated, AI-driven platform designed to track both ongoing and forthcoming projects. Crucially, it leverages extensive historical tender data to predict which developers are most likely to secure specific deals, thereby providing an unparalleled strategic advantage to its subscribers.
The platform’s operational mechanics are intuitively designed: upon a company’s registration, Cascade’s advanced AI algorithms analyze their profile to pinpoint projects where they possess the highest probability of success. Simultaneously, it forecasts upcoming projects by synthesizing diverse data signals from state, local district, private contract, and federal agency sources. For instance, if a state announces a substantial affordable housing grant, Cascade monitors past grant recipients to anticipate future winners. Ferreira elaborated, "We integrate that data and inform our customers: ‘It’s highly probable that one of these five developers will win this newly announced grant, so initiate discussions with them to secure sub-contracts or partnerships.’"
The founders’ participation in a16z’s Speedrun accelerator last September proved instrumental. They credit the intense pressure and the stimulating environment of collaborating with other brilliant founders for accelerating their progress, enabling them to ink contracts with prestigious firms responsible for iconic projects like the JFK and LaGuardia airports, Four Seasons hotels, and various data centers. Zia emphasized that "Speedrun provided invaluable visibility and a crucial stamp of approval, facilitating the closure of significant deals."
With the newly acquired capital, Cascade plans to accelerate its market entry strategies, organize key industry events, and significantly expand its engineering team to further enhance its technological capabilities.
While competitors such as GovWin IQ and ConstructConnect operate in a similar domain, Ferreira asserts that Cascade distinguishes itself through its inherently more "AI-native" architecture. She highlights a continuous feedback loop: "Every time a customer wins a bid, they provide feedback, which continuously refines and enhances the system’s intelligence. Over time, this iterative process will culminate in a comprehensive industry map that our AI can traverse to pinpoint the optimal projects and leads for each individual customer."
