Initial R2 production is slated for the Normal plant, alongside the R1 series and electric delivery vans. However, Rivian is also progressing with a new manufacturing complex near Atlanta, Georgia, which will ultimately house production for both the R2 and the recently unveiled R3 hatchback, introduced in March 2024. Groundbreaking for the Georgia facility occurred late last year, with vertical construction expected to commence shortly and full production anticipated by 2028.
