AI Magic: Try Clothes On, Virtually!

AI Magic: Try Clothes On, Virtually!

Hustler Words – Google is stepping up its fashion game with a brand new AI-powered feature that allows users to virtually try on clothes before making a purchase. The update, officially launched after a period of testing, also includes enhanced price alerts and a sneak peek at an upcoming tool for generating shoppable outfits and room design ideas using AI.

The virtual try-on feature, now live in the United States, lets shoppers upload a personal photo to see how different apparel items from Google’s Shopping Graph would look on them. This functionality is available across Search, Google Shopping, and product results on Google Images. Users can access the feature by tapping the "try it on" icon on a product listing and uploading a full-length photo. They can then save and share their virtual looks with friends.

While Google has previously offered virtual try-on experiences, those iterations focused on showcasing clothing on a diverse range of models. This new feature takes personalization a step further by allowing users to visualize the clothing on their own body.

This launch follows Google’s recent investment in the virtual try-on space, including the experimental Doppl app. According to a Google spokesperson, while both the new try-on feature and Doppl are based on the same generative AI technology, Doppl is designed for a deeper dive into personal style curation, even creating AI-generated videos to provide a more realistic view of the outfit in motion.

In addition to the virtual try-on feature, Google is also rolling out updated price alerts. Shoppers in the US can now specify their desired price, size, and color for a product and receive notifications when an offer matches their criteria. "The Shopping Graph has products and prices from all across the web – so we’ll let you know when there’s an offer that meets your criteria," explained Danielle Buckley, Google’s Director of Consumer Shopping.

Looking ahead, Google plans to launch a new feature this fall that will provide users with outfit and room design inspiration. This tool will allow users to generate visual options for queries such as "style inspo for a green flowy dress for a garden party" or "design ideas for a bedroom." Google’s vision match technology will leverage the 50 billion products in the Shopping Graph to display product listings that visually match the generated images.
